History of the Band

Inducted into The Buffalo Music Hall Of Fame in 1995 , Only Humen had been rocking WNY, PA & Ohio since late 1986. They are currently setting up a tour of Florida’s West Coast Gulfside area from Sarasota* thru Tampa, Largo, St Pete’s and more north to Crystal River. Hailing from Buffalo, NY, the greatest city on earth, they are arguably one of the tightest, polished outfits in the area and please crowds of all age groups and backgrounds. Clubs, concerts, private parties and equally comfortable with weddings, corporate, casinos, theme parks, church, fireman & police functions – you name it- Only Humen has done it all.

Only Humen successfully opened for Englands rockers "The Sweet" (Ballroom Blitz, Fox On The Run, Little Willie, Love Is Like Oxygen…) Saturday April 28, '18 @ The Riviera Theatre in N.Tonawanda, NY.

*February 27th, 2019 saw them fulfilling a long awaited ‘Florida Snowbird Tour’ commencing with The “Everything’s Buffalo Party” in Sarasota brought to you by Tim Mitten and Full Moon Productions. Playing to a 1,600+ crowd, Only Humen wowed them with years of experience and a rocking’ good time. MC’d by Frankie Scinta and Larry ‘Snortin’ Norton (97 rock), other Buffalo acts -Dave & Cyn (Busted Stuff Duo), Steve Balestrieri and more! Some of the Buffalo sponsors included were Casa-Di-Pizza, Sahlen’s Hot Dogs, Bocce Club Pizza, Wardynski’s Meats, Carubba Collision and others. Then we shoved off to play The Five O’Clock Club/Sarasota to a welcoming crowd on Friday. Saturday afternoon we played a private Birthday party for Sandy Banks and later that evening onward to Beef O’Brady’s in Lutz/Land O’Lakes. 3 gigs in 24 hrs. Hmmm. Took a few days to relax and on Tuesday, after a wonderful lunch @ The Casa-Di-Pizza and the generosity of longtime friend Joe Jacobi, Only Frank played an Acoustic Madness Show joined on stage with fellow bandmates, Justin “Koobs” Kubiak and brother Mr. Chris @ The Lazy Parrot, also in Sarasota. Lodgings were provided by longtime friends Dave & Dennise Bender in Largo. Thank you! It should be noted we used a former OH Alumni drummer, Jim Hathaway, a resident of Florida on drums/vocals as our regular drummer Mark, was unable to attend due to prior commitments. There’s always next year and we’re looking forward to it. Florida-here we come again!

Only Humen have also been the chosen opening act for such notables as The Little River Band, Molly Hatchett, The Marshall Tucker Band, Travis Tritt, The Kentucky Headhunters, The Sawyer Brown Band, Blake Shelton, Gary Richrath/REO Speedwagon, Head East, Rare Earth, Foghat, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Lisa,Lisa & Cult Jam, The Mamas and the Papas, The Byrds, The Association, Herman’s Hermits, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Drifters, The Platters, The Coasters, Del Shannon, Chubby Checkers, The Marvelettes, Coco Montoya, The Dixie Allstars and The Derek Trucks Band to name a few. The list goes on and on. Their ability to form fit to a crowd and work the room is uncanny, often creating the illusion of a much bigger band on stage to produce the full sound which has become their trademark ‘humenized’ sound and winning the band over 25 BMA competitions! (In another 'life', Only Frank has opened for Triumph, Brownsville Station, Brand X, Joey Mollands Badfinger, The Yachts, The Dingoes (Australia)...)

Playing hits by The Beatles, Stones, Elvis, CCR, Bob Seger, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Mellencamp and lots in between, Wild Cherry, The Commodores, Neil Diamond, Prince, to more latter groups like The Tragically Hip, James, Foo Fighters, 3 Doors Down, The Cure, Kid Rock, Matchbox 20, Jimmy Eat World, Sublime,- keeps them in the forefront of the WNY area music scene. Coming from the city that spawned the likes of other Buffalo Music Hall of Fame artists- The GooGoo Dolls, Billy Sheehan(Mr. Big, Talas, Winery Dogs), Spyro Gyra, Ani DiFranco, 10,000 Maniacs, Rick James, Cory Wells/Three Dog Night, Robert Moog, Art Kubera, Harold Arlen (yes, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” Dorothy), Ray Evans & Stan Livingston (Silver Bells, Que Sera,Sera, Mr.Ed Theme, Bonanza and a parade of others), that is quite the accomplishment.

The band's stage show has a blend of polished vocals and harmonies, unparalleled tight musicianship, humor and high energy that keeps the audience’s satisfied at any event.

Only Humen boasts the implementation of the all new innovative, technically advanced BOSE L1 PA System which has a remarkable sound and an easy, portable “all in one” time saving setup and tear down. A lighting show by Chauvet with a seemingly endless variation of scene programming and colors decorates the stage with brilliant colors.

While still mainly a “cover” band, Only Humen has recorded three original CD’s over their 25+ years in existence. (Four if you count the unreleased “Bluebird” album recorded at The Power Station in New York City-1995.) “Only Humen So ‘R’ U”-1989, “Six of One-A Half Dozen of the Other”-1997, and “Slightly Twisted Fiction”-2001, all for the indie label, Lionsheart Records America.
